In April 1973 a meeting of Brethren interested in forming a new Lodge was held. Two Brethren W. Bro. Don Smith and W. Bro. Bill Spittle believed there was a need for a new Lodge that not only carried out ceremonies with dignity, but also provided a Festive Board of very high standard.
The name Drayton Standard was chosen in honour of W. Bro. Smith’s father – Drayton being given to a male member in each generation of the Smith family. The word Standard being a measurement of timber. W.Bro. Smith’s family business was trading as a timber merchant.
The Lodge crest depicts a cube of timber standing upon green pasture surmounted by sheer legs from which is suspended a double block purchase, secured with a timber hitch. Below are the Latin words “Excellentia Colimus” and translates as “to Cultivate Excellence”
Drayton Standard Lodge was consecrated on the 30th June 1975. The sponsoring Lodge was Eastwoodbury Lodge.
Drayton Standard has attached a Royal Arch Chapter also known as Drayton Standard Chapter No. 8626
