Essex Freemasons raising money for charity

The values of Freemasonry are based on integrity, kindness, honesty and fairness. Freemasons are taught to practise charity and to care, not only for their own, but also for the community as a whole – both by charitable giving, and by voluntary efforts and works as individuals.

Every year In Essex, Freemasons raise and donate nearly £1 million to more than 500 different charities. Freemasonry in Essex thrives with money raised at social events, raffles and similar competitions within Lodges, alms collection etc.

However, while we are a charitable organisation it is only one part of Freemasonry and members are always encouraged never to give more than they can afford.

From its earliest days, Freemasonry has been concerned with the care of orphans, the sick and the aged. This work continues today. In addition, large sums are given to national and local charities.

Masonic charity is exercised at every level: Freemasonry in Essex is no exception where individual Lodges make gifts and give aid to their own communities. Every Province such as Essex also gives large sums of money to regional causes.
